What is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology is a non-invasive natural therapy that combines both Eastern and Western traditions.

It stems from chiropractics and uses principles of Chinese medicine and acupuncture theory with a subtle muscle monitoring technique, known as biofeedback, to detect and correct stress and imbalances in the body. Imbalances can be structural, biochemical, psychological, emotional, energetic and / or spiritual.

Kinesiology may be beneficial to a range of issues including learning difficulties, digestive and nutritional problems, hormonal imbalances, muscular and nervous disorders, emotional traumas, depression, illnesses and injuries.

It is important to note that kinesiology does not diagnose, it detects and corrects energy imbalances in the body using the muscle monitoring technique known as biofeedback. Biofeedback allows us to access the communication links between our brain and body and the connections they have with our organs, hormones, cells, tissues and energy flows.

Kinesiology can be used alone or integrated with other health care modalities to increase its effectiveness.

What is Involved in a Kinesiology Session?

The client remains fully clothed and lies face up on the massage table. Generally the practitioner uses an arm muscle for monitoring in conjunction with comprehensive questions to ascertain imbalances, their underlying causes and the best strategy to bring the body back into balance. The client may be asked to focus on certain feelings or experiences while the practitioner tests muscles to detect energy imbalances or stress. Kinesiology can often bring awareness to unconscious reactions to stress.

Kinesiology uses a range of techniques which may include:

• Acupressure
• Neurolymphatic and neurovascular points
• Reflex, trigger and body points
• Flower essences and homeopathics
• Colour, sound and crystal techniques
