What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing method using a subtle energy to balance the body and mind. It can be used on adults, children and even animals and plants. Reiki is beneficial for improving physical health, mental clarity, emotional wellbeing and spiritual harmony.

On a physical level Reiki has had positive effects on pain reduction, recovery from surgery, minor ailments such as headaches, back issues, digestive and hormonal problems through to serious diseases like cancer. Reiki has even helped to reduce healing time post operatively. The technique also works well in conjunction with regular medical treatments and is complementary to all other healing methods including surgery, drugs and alternative therapies.

On a mental level, Reiki has been proven to increase mental clarity, heighten learning and memory and beneficial in treating depression.
Reiki may aid our emotional health by assisting with releasing fears, processing grief and dealing with emotional traumas.
Reiki is also a valuable tool in promoting spiritual growth and helping us to find peace within ourselves.

What is Involved in a Reiki Session?

Whilst a client can receive treatment if seated or standing they are usually laying on a massage table. The client is fully clothed. Reiki energy flows from the practitioners hands therefore the practitioner places their hands on the clients body to transfer the flow of energy to where the client needs it most. The hands are placed in a variety of positions & can include head, shoulders, stomach, limbs, hands and feet. Each position is held for a few minutes but the time varies depending on the individual needs.
