What will I experience after my session?

Kinesiology sessions are unique to each person. Sometimes changes are obvious. Other times you may not notice changes as they are subtle but your friends/family/colleagues will notice. My clients seem to feel lighter, calmer and happier when they leave but you may experience any of the following in the days after your session:

  • Teary/sad - you can continue to process the energy from the session for awhile

  • Light/happy - when you clear negative thoughts, patterns or trauma there is room for joy

  • Angry/frustrated - peeling off layers allows more things to come the surface to be released

  • Clarity - when you clear confusion or trauma it allows the body and mind to be calm

  • Feel unsettled - new perceptions or emotions even joy can be unfamiliar

  • Perception changes - the problem isn’t a problem anymore so things look/feel different

  • Physical symptoms begin to heal - often clearing emotional aspects of issues allows this

  • Feel tired or exhausted - processing energy especially traumas can leave you tired

To honour yourself after a kinesiology session perhaps support your body by:

  • Drinking plenty of water

  • Avoiding alcohol the first day especially after a trauma balance

  • Get plenty of rest

  • Follow any diet or lifestyle changes your body indicated during the session

Can I claim my session on health insurance?

It has always depended on your healthcare provider and your individual plan. I have always held a professional level of membership with Australian Institute of Kinesiologists (AIK).

However as of 1 April 2019, all private health insurance companies decided to no longer cover services like kinesiology as part of of their ‘extras’ package due to government ruling.

My hope is that this will change in the future as alternative modalities like kinesiology/kinergetics have had such incredible success in helping people with their health & healing.

What if I feel unwell after a session?

In my personal healing journey I have had illness after sessions many times. It was not pleasant and even though my own body processes very physically that is not something I ever want my clients to experience. The type of kinesiology I use focuses on preventing this.

During a session I will use a lot of techniques to keep your body hydrated, calm and balanced. I continually check your hydration and use muscle monitoring to ask your body what support it needs during and after the session.

One of the main reasons you may feel ill would be dehydration. In a session we can release stress from our muscles, organs & glands. Doing this may also release physical toxins. I usually recommend clients to drink a lot of water before and after a session. Sometimes your body will indicate other measures to help avoid discomfort after a session. Some examples aside from hydration might be an affirmation, change to diet, use of crystals or sound techniques. It is what I call homework but don’t worry it is always simple, easy to achieve and fun, nothing like traditional homework!

How can children benefit from kinesiology?

Most kinesiologists use a variety of tools and techniques and can help children in many ways:

  • Confidence and self esteem

  • Bed wetting

  • Digestive issues

  • Memory/Learning Difficulties/Concentration & Comprehension

  • Sport performance

  • Co-ordination

  • Anxiety & stress

  • Allergies/food intolerances

  • Speech or hearing issues

Kinesiology can help balance any stressors in a safe and non-invasive way. In my sessions if we only need part of the session to work with a childs issues then the rest of the time can be spent balancing the parent/carer as they are often interlinked. At the very least the parent/carer can lay back and enjoy some calming reiki energy.

Can kinesiology be used for babies and children?

Absolutely!

There are cases in kinesiology where muscle monitoring can’t be used.

This would be for babies, animals, frail people or amputees.

In these situations Kinesiology allows a surrogate to be monitored and balanced in their place.

It makes no difference if it is the actual person/animal or a surrogate being balanced. It is balancing energy. A baby can be sitting on mums lap or in the pram and it can still be balanced energetically by kinesiology.

What happens during a session?

During a kinesiology/healing appointment you remain fully clothed and lay face up on the massage table.

A session can also be carried out in the sitting position but it is easier and more relaxing for you to lay down.

I have extra pillows to prop under your knees to support your lower back if you need.

Water is always at hand as hydration is super important to support your body.

I will look at the information on your client form and have a chat about your reason for seeing me.

At the beginning of each kinesiology session I ask your body through muscle monitoring (gentle pushing down on your arm) what support it needs ie: water, crystals, colour, sound etc.

It is important for me that your body is supported throughout the entire session so you can gain as much benefit as possible and process any imbalances easily and comfortably.

Then I use muscle monitoring to find the priority issue to balance first.

The muscle monitoring is used along with questions to find imbalances & stresses, their underlying causes and the best strategy to bring the body back into balance.

I may ask you to focus on certain feelings or experiences while I test your muscle to detect energy imbalances or stress.

Sometimes I will get you to read or say an affirmation/statement out loud and monitor your muscle reaction.

Kinesiology can often bring awareness to unconscious reactions to stress

Most of my sessions use some reiki/energy healing. This usually leaves you feeling relaxed and calm and the feedback I have been given is it helps process energy from the session.

Will kinesiology cure me?

Kinesiology does not treat, prescribe, diagnose or cure.

Kinesiology works by balancing energy in the body.

By balancing your body it allows healing to take place and often it can create changes to the body on a physical level too.

I have had clients enter my healing room in pain and leave pain free but that is not a guarantee. How fast a person heals depends on how ingrained an issue is, how many layers to it, other issues it may be linked to, how long the issue has been present for.

Regardless of what the issues is: depression/anxiety, bereavement, cancer or physical injury for instance, kinesiology will balance energetically. It will look at emotional, mental and physical aspects of any illness or issue to discover any support needed or changes to diet & lifestyle needed.

Kinesiology works well in conjunction with your doctor, naturopath, counsellor or other practitioner.

How many sessions will I need?

This is a very common question.

Many people want a quick fix solution.

Kinesiology is not about performing miracles.

How many sessions can often depend on how long you have had the issue.

There are no set rules and many of my clients have had amazing results for an issue and only needed one session to clear it.

Apart from how long you have been dealing with the issue, other factors influencing how quickly the body can be balanced again can depend on where you are in your healing journey, what other issues you are dealing with in life and how deeply ingrained the issue/s.

Generally if you have more than one issue to resolve than you will probably need more than one kinesiology session.

Some clients come weekly, some fortnightly or monthly and others sporadically as needed. Everybody heals differently so using your own wisdom is best.

Usually it is best to allow a week between sessions so our bodies can process and integrate any healing. There is no right or wrong way to structure your healing journey. I have had clients come weekly for a couple of months and then wait a year before coming again to address a different issue that arises. Again we are all different and experiencing different lives so listen to your own body wisdom and of course fit it in with your budget too.

What is muscle testing/monitoring?

Muscle testing or muscle monitoring forms the basis of kinesiology.

It is used to identify what is causing you stress and the right corrections/techniques you need to help you feel better and bring your body back into balance.

Most commonly an arm muscle is used eg: anterior deltoid.

Usually you are laying on your back on a massage table (fully clothed) for your kinesiology session. With your elbow bent I use the brachioradialis muscle of your forearm for monitoring. This way the arm doesnt tire easily. Pressing gently downwards on the arm you will resist my pressure. I can ask yes/no questions and get answers depending on how your muscle reacts.

Your arm will either be able to resist my pressure and hold strong or it will not be able to resist the pressure and will drop down.

The monitoring is not a strength test.

It simply gives me feedback on stress in your body or stress you react to in our conversation.

It can also indicate what support your body needs, what is causing the stress, how to balance the stress etc. Our bodies are very clever and have an innate ability to heal themselves. Kinesiology is a great tool that taps into that ability and works well with it.

What is kinesiology?

Kinesiology is a natural therapy that uses a subtle muscle monitoring technique, known as biofeedback, to detect and correct stress and imbalances in the body. The Practitioner is able to identify emotional, mental and physical imbalances that can lead to self-sabotage, allergies, stresses and chronic pain to name a few.

Kinesiology allows us to access the communication links between our brain and body and the connections they have with our organs, hormones, cells, tissues and energy flows. Kinesiology can be used alone or integrated with other health care modalities to increase its effectiveness.
